SENESTEV®

THE FUTURE PLANT, BY SENEGAL, FOR SENEGAL.

"Stevia is a solution for diabetes. We need to cultivate it and disseminate it."

If stevia exists for 2000 years and is used for a long time in Paraguay by Guarani Indians, it is subject of scientific studies for a little bit more than a century due to a remarkable property: stevia has an extraordinary sugar power without sugar disadvantages (weight-gain, diabetes, obesity, decays, etc.). It has been recently selected by powerful agro-food groups as Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Danone, Yoplait and others to replace aspartame and sucrose. We can legally buy stevia in France since the inter-ministerial decree of September 6th 2009 authorizing its use and its sales. This authorization should be expanded to Europe in the upcoming months. This recent interest causes a constantly growing demand on which surfaces already cultivated in Latin America and Asia can’t answer. It becomes urgent and essential to implant new farmings.

But this is not enough because once the plant harvested, the active material should be extracted (Rebaudioside A). The process is complexe and needs important invests and an undeniable knowledge. In a nutshell, to dispose of ready-consumed stevia, it needs: lands with an adapted climate, a workforce, an extraction industry and a development industry. We have all of this! But it also need money to invest for cultivation and particularly for irrigation (80% of the invest amount). Stevia is a low-resources plant but it needs attention. Many jobs will be created in order to be able to ensure a constant, biological and responsible production. Once the extraction accomplished , its progressive integration in distribution channels will allow the beginning of a new health era.

TRACEABILITY

We guarantee authenticity and traceability: we produce a stevia tracked from its cultivation through its commercialization, guaranteeing its security and quality.

FROM CULTURE TO BIOLOGICAL EXTRACTION

Although it is impossible to label it BIO, we care about cultivate according to the ECOCERT established rules. Weeding is made by hand and compost is natural.

INTENDED TO AFRICA

Our objective is to little by little integrate the stevia consumption to food habits. The approach is progressive but represents a considerable sanitary challenge.
